BECKLEY, WV (WVNS) — Chick-fil-A Beckley is teaming up with the Raleigh County Public Library (RCPL) for a reading program as part of their “Summer of Cows” series of events.

On Monday, July 22, 2024, community members that visit the library will get the chance to experience cow-themed activities, be visited by the Chick-fil-A Cow and enjoy readings of “Mr. Brown Can Moo, Can You?” at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m.

We are so excited to kick off our ‘Summer of Cows’ event series for our community and encourage children’s reading. We hope that these events will help Beckley families create treasured memories together.

In addition to the event at the library, the RCPL Bookmobile will visit the Marquee Cinemas – Galleria 14 on July 23, July 30, August 6, and August 13 at 10:30 a.m. during the free children’s movie showings. Kids can check books out for the summer reading challenge, receive a reading log, as well as a cow plush.

Working with Chick-fil-A for the ‘Summer of Cows’ event series is a great opportunity for us to encourage reading and family fun this summer. Reading is always an adventure, and we encourage participants to start theirs today at the library.

West Virginia University Institute of Technology will also be present so families have the opportunity to sign up for Monty’s Cub Club, a no-cost program that afford kids access to educational benefits and awards children with a $5 savings account with PCB Bank.

The partnership is an effort to support youth literacy and help children gain and retain reading skills in the summer months.
