BECKLEY, WV (WVNS) — A temporary road closure is planned for part of a road in Raleigh County.
Starting on Monday, July 29, 2024, Pinewood Drive in the Maxwell Hill area of Beckley in Raleigh County will be under a temporary road closure due to an emergency storm sewer replacement. The road closure is estimated to last until Friday, August 2, 2024.
Natalie Cochran granted continuance in Raleigh County murder trial The storm sewer is located ten feet under the road, and the Beckley Sanitary Board has a contractor that will perform the replacement.
Pinewood Drive is a residential road that is often used to travel between the shopping center area in North Beckley and Harper Road.
While the temporary road closure is in effect, Pinewood Drive will be closed to all through traffic between the Maxwell Hill Road and Teel Road intersections. While the area will be closed to all through traffic, those who live in the area will be able to access their properties, however they may need to use alternate routes.

Signs showing the detour route will be in place, and drivers are advised to observe all speed limits and signs, and to keep the detours in mind when planning travel times and routes.
The Beckley Sanitary Board and City of Beckley apologize for any difficulties that the road closure may cause, and thanks the community for their patience and cooperation as the improvements are made.
