BECKLEY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Upcoming plans for the closure of Pinewood Drive in the Maxwell Hill area of Beckley have been announced by the Beckley Sanitary Board .

Residents and visitors alike have been advised to make note of the planned shutdown of the frequently utilized residential roadway, which will commence beginning Monday, July 29, 2024. The shutdown itself will be implemented to accommodate emergency storm sewer replacement.

A contractor will reportedly be on site for the completion of emergency replacement for the storm stewer drain which sits ten feet below the roadway. An estimated completion date of Friday, August 2, 2024, has been provided for the replacement.

The development will see Pinewood Drive closed to all traffic between the intersections of Teel Road and Maxwell Hill Road. It has been advised that local residents in these areas will be able to access their respective properties at all times, but that they should anticipate experiencing temporary disruptions and may need to utilize alternate travel routes at times.

With regard to alternative routes, authorities have indicated that traffic will be rerouted via Teel Road and Maxwell Hill Road, and that detour signs will be displayed prominently in the area. Motorists will be expected to adhere to signage posted along with established speed limits.

“The Beckley Sanitary Board and City of Beckley regret any inconvenience caused by the road closure and appreciate the public’s patience and cooperation as we make infrastructure improvements,” said the Beckley Sanitary Board with regard to the planned closure. “We are committed to working with our contractor to complete this work as efficiently and safely as possible.”

Those seeking further information have been encouraged to visit the Beckley Sanitary Board website or contact the board by phone at (304) 256-1760.
