Park Middle School gym construction continues in Beckley

BECKLEY, WV (WVNS) — The Roadrunners at Park Middle School in Beckley will see a new gymnasium and classrooms, once construction of a new wing is completed.

Raleigh County Schools Superintendent Dr. Serena Starcher said on Monday, July 29, 2024, that STEM and computer science rooms were practically ready for students and that she anticipated students would use them when school started.

Dr. Starcher said officials hope to see the gymnasium completed in November, when contractors are scheduled to begin renovations to the school auditorium, once they have finished the gymnaisum.

“Raleigh County Schools appreciates the patience and flexibility of the Park Middle School students, staff, parents and broader community, throughout this process,” said Dr. Starcher.

Dr. Starcher said Phase 1 of the project was around $9 million and that construction is now entering Phase 2.

Students’ first day of school is August 22, 2024.
