On Tuesday, Sheri House helped hand out boxes of food during the Hoosier Hills Food Bank Mobile Food Pantry at the Bedford Sherwood Oaks Christian Church.

House said she moved to Bedford a year ago, and "I've volunteered (through her church) ever since."

Sandy Sherrill, also volunteering Tuesday, organizes the other volunteers. Sherrill said food boxes are given away the fourth Tuesday of every month. Every other month, senior boxes are given away to those 65 and older who qualify.

The mobile food banks distribute food in Orange, Martin, and Lawrence counties every month. Each family's box contains various food staples along with milk, produce, and meat, depending on what is available.

The schedule for the mobile food banks is; Shoals, second Tuesday of every month from 1-3 p.m.; Orleans, second Thursday of each month, 1-3 p.m.; Bedford, fourth Tuesday of each month, 4-6 p.m.; and Mitchell, fourth Thursday of every month, 4-6 p.m.
