The Bedford Bulldogs currently sit with a record of 20-10 on the season and are preparing to play in the baseball state tournament in Carroll. The Bulldogs are heading into the tournament with nothing to lose and currently sit as the lowest seed of all eight teams.

Bedford is coming off a 7-4 upset against the Tri-Center Trojans. Bedford fell behind early trailing 4-1 in the top of the third and tallied three runs to tie up the contest. The Bulldogs added one more in the fifth and two in the top of the seventh, holding Tri-Center scoreless after the second inning.

Bedford was led to victory behind a stellar performance on the mound from junior Klemit Olney. The junior tossed all seven innings allowing four runs on seven hits with eight strikeouts. Offensively Izaak Dukes led the way with two base hits and double, including three RBIs.

Now Bedford will flip their focus to the No. 1 team in 1A Akron-Westfield. The Westerners are 27-3 this season and have dominated nearly every game. Averaging 9.8 runs per-game, Akron-Westfield is outscoring their opponents 284 to 58 this season. The Westerners are very stout in the batter’s box and hit .351 as a team.

Bedford will take on Akron-Westfield at 11:00 on Monday at Merchant’s Park in Carroll.
