Keene State College aims for strong finish in 2024 field hockey season
KEENE, N.H. (MyKeeneNow) – In a preseason poll conducted by the Little East Conference (LEC) coaches, Keene State College’s field hockey team has been predicted to secure the second spot in the upcoming 2024 season. Students head back to the classroom next week
KEENE, N.H. (MyKeeneNow) – Students in the Monadnock Region head back to school on next week. According to SAU 29’s website, school resumes for all districts on Tuesday, August 27th. Preschool at Jonathan Daniels and in Marlborough will begin after Labor Day on September 3rd, along with Kindergarten in both Keene and Chesterfield. Marlow preschool and kindergarten begins September 9th.

18-year-old Taunton athlete was full of life, then a condition he didn’t know he had killed him
The family of a Bristol County teen is looking to bring awareness to a condition that killed him and he didn’t know he had it. 18-year-old JJ Facey of Taunton was a decorated soccer player on his way to continue his athletics and academics at Framingham State University. Trooper Justified in Use of Deadly Force
The New Hampshire attorney general’s office says a state trooper who fatally shot a man at a psychiatric hospital in November shortly after the man killed a security guard was justified in using deadly force. The trooper, Nathan Sleight, fired at John Madore on Nov. 17 after Madore fatally shot Bradley Haas, an unarmed state Department of Safety security officer who was working at the New Hampshire Hospital’s front entrance. Madore was a former patient at the Concord hospital. Video cameras showed that the events happened in under one minute.

A resident of Swanzey, New Hampshire, has been indicted in federal court for the theft of firearms from a licensed gun store that occurred in July. Khale Guillou, a 19-year-old from Swanzey, faces one count of theft involving firearms from a federally licensed dealer, which includes one rifle and sixteen pistols. Currently, Guillou is in custody in Massachusetts on unrelated charges and will address these new charges at a future date. If found guilty, he may face a prison sentence of up to ten years and a fine of $250,000.
