Police release new surveillance photo of missing elderly Skokie woman
CHICAGO (CBS) — Skokie Police have released a new surveillance photo of a missing elderly woman from Skokie, Illinois. Tsering Wangyal has been missing since Monday. The 82-year-old was last seen at her condo building on Bronx Place. On Saturday night, police released the new surveillance image from that very same day. It was taken just after 6 p.m. Monday at the Levy Senior Center in Evanston. The family said she was heading to a prayer meeting. They also say she has no driver's license and left without her money or phone. Police say teams brought out bloodhounds, but last week's heavy rain may have washed away her scent.

Northwestern has been competitive in the past 30 years of college football, but for a very long time, the Wildcats were abysmal. They were one of the worst teams in college football in the 1970s and 1980s. They were largely irrelevant for many decades in the Big Ten. Pritzker enacts 68 bills impacting drivers, immigrants, child victims, mobile homes
(The Center Square) – Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker signed 68 bills Friday that affect drivers, those who violate immigration laws, victims of child abuse, mobile homes and more. During the spring session that ended in May, the Illinois General Assembly approved more than 450 bills out of both chambers. On Friday, Pritzker’s office announced dozens are now law, including a measure preventing professional license denial or disciplinary action against someone based solely on immigration status or an immigration violation. ...
PHOTOS: Brookfield Zoo welcomes new animal residents
CHICAGO - Brookfield Zoo has announced the addition of several new animals, which includes emus, a sloth bear, and a puggle. In late June, three 3-month-old emus arrived at the Zoo. The one male and two females are adjusting to their outdoor habitat alongside kangaroos at Australia House. Emus, the second-largest birds in the world, are flightless and can sprint up to 30 mph, according to the zoo. The young emus have already gained 25% of their body weight in the past month.

Chemical release from Will County plant prompts large emergency response
The release of a volatile chemical led to a large emergency response on Saturday at a plant in unincorporated Will County, authorities said. At around 11:38 a.m., the Channahon Fire Protection District was called to INEOS Styrenics for a hazardous material incident, the fire district said in a news release. Fire crews arrived to facility employees attempting to cool a large container of approximately 5,000 gallons of styrene. Styrene is a liquid used to create polystyrene, a solid plastic.

Channahon, IL – Channahon Fire Protection District is managing a hazardous materials incident at 25846 S Frontage Road in Channahon this Saturday afternoon. The situation is contained, and there are no threats to the community. Currently, there are no evacuation advisories, and I-55 remains open in both directions. Authorities advise avoiding the area until the incident is fully resolved.
