Averett University aims to recover from shock financial losses
Averett University (AU) employees are experiencing a temporary reduction in pay this summer as a result of financial mismanagement, according to campus officials. The problem was first discovered during a quarterly financial review. At that time, AU President Tiffany Franks discovered figures not in alignment with the university’s expectations, according to Associate Vice President of University Marketing and Communications Cassie Jones.
Structure fire on Cedar Branch Road is under investigation: Firefighters
(WSET) — The Boonsboro Volunteer Fire & Rescue Company said there was a structure fire on Cedar Branch Road on Sunday night. Firefighters said Boonsboro (1st due), Squad 3, Forest Fire Department (2nd due, and RIT) responded to Cedar Branch Road for a reported structure fire with smoke in the residence.

Danville Man and Keeling Woman Arrested for Illegal Video Gaming Operation in Ruffin, NC
A Danville man and a Keeling woman were among three people arrested following search warrants executed at an illegal video gaming operation in Ruffin, NC. On Thursday the Rockingham County Sheriff’s Office and the Caswell County Sheriff’s Office, along with assistance from the North Carolina State Highway Patrol, executed a search warrant at 9900 US 29 Business in Ruffin, N.C. .

Samantha Pickens, a national champion and Team USA diver, has been hired as Liberty's Diving Coach, it was announced today by Head Coach Jake Shellenberger. "Associate Head Coach Jessica Barnes and I are thrilled to welcome Samantha to Liberty and the Swimming & Diving family," Shellenberger said. "Bringing a wealth of both elite-level competition and coaching experience, Samantha will elevate our diving to the next level, and we see great things ahead for her and the entire program. I love that she is a Pennsylvania native and Arizona graduate, as Jessica and I hail from PA as well, and I spent time in Tucson as a volunteer with the Wildcat program.
