NEW JERSEY (PIX11) — Former President Donald Trump is believed to be resting in Bedminster, New Jersey after an assassination attempt in Pennsylvania left him bloodied Saturday.
Trump landed at Newark Liberty International Airport shortly after midnight. He has a private golf course in Bedminster.
In a social media post, Trump says he was “shot with a bullet that pierced the upper part of my right ear.” The former president’s campaign and aides say he’s “fine” and in “great spirits” after the shooting at a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania.
And on Sunday morning, a handful of Trump’s supporters showed up in Bedminster waving American and Trump campaign flags as passing drivers honked in support.

New Jersey resident Bob Tobia showed up in Bedminster to show his support for Trump Sunday.
“What went on yesterday is a damn shame… It should never come down to this,” Tobia told PIX11 News.
Bedminster resident Arnold Stul showed up Sunday not to support Trump but check out the scene at the golf course. He told PIX11 News he’s hoping Sundays turmoil can help Americans behave with civility moving forward.
“It’s the age we live in, right?,” Stul said. “It’s sad… Maybe in retrospect this will get us to where we can have a civilized campaign. Maybe something good can come out of this, it sounds crazy, I know.”
New York and New Jersey officials have responded to what officials are calling an assassination attempt, including New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy.
“Please pray for President Trump, everyone at the rally, and our country,” Murphy said.
The NYPD increased security at a number of potential hot spots in New York City, officials said. Videos posted to social media show people gathering outside Trump Tower in New York City and a police presence.
“Out of an abundance of caution, the NYPD will be increasing its presence across the city, including at Trump Tower, 40 Wall Street, Foley Square, & City Hall,” Deputy Mayor for Communications Fabien Levy said Saturday evening.
Mayor Eric Adams on Saturday responded to the shooting.
“No one should be the victim of gun violence,” Adams said. “Today, in Pennsylvania, we witnessed once again the danger of guns in the hands of violent extremists. We must do better for all Americans.”
