BALTIMORE, MD—The Maryland Lottery and the state’s casinos, sportsbooks, and daily fantasy sports operators combined to contribute $1.585 billion to Maryland’s good causes in Fiscal Year 2024 (July 1, 2023 through June 30, 2024).

12 August 2024- The Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development today announced awards of more than $8.4 million through the federal Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program for Fiscal Year 2025. The grants from the CDBG State Program will support 14 projects in 12 counties, including the creation of affordable housing, improvements to infrastructure and community facilities, and programs serving homeless persons, persons with disabilities and low to moderate income individuals.

12 August 2024- Washington Township PD, Waynesboro PD, and Pennsylvania State Police were all involved in an early morning chase down Buchanan Trail in and around Waynesboro on Sunday that saw a Maryland man arrested. Marzuis Jones has been charged with three felony counts of child endangerment, felony fleeing an officer, three misdemeanor counts of reckless endangerment, misdemeanor resisting arrest, and misdemeanor DUI. He failed to post bail of $75,000.
Stephanie Scensny Killed By Falling Tree In Howard County
Columbia resident Stephanie Scensny has been identified by police as the driver of a Honda CR-V who was killed in an Ellicott City accident on Sunday, Aug. 11. According to the Howard County Police Department, shortly after 5:30 p.m. on Sunday afternoon, Scensny was heading west on the Baltimore National Pike near the Baltimore County line when a tree fell on her vehicle.
