New Mexico Baseball has been awarded the 2023-24 ABCA Team Academic Excellence Award, the organization announced Wednesday. Teams from every level of college and high school baseball — over 800 in total — were honored with this year’s award, which highlights programs coached by ABCA members that posted a GPA of 3.0 or above on a 4.0 scale for the cumulative 2023-24 academic year. Ice arena in Santa Fe closes due to mechanical issues
SANTA FE, N.M. (KRQE) – The ice arena at the Genoveva Chavez Community Center in Santa Fe closed due to “mechanical issues,” the city announced Wednesday afternoon. Recreation Division Director Brian Stinett said the rink experienced issues with its compressors that keep the ice cool. “We were maintaining ice, and we were checking those temperatures throughout the evening to see if we were in danger of losing it. Per the contractor’s instruction, they asked us to leave compressor 1 running. We did, only to come in Tuesday morning to see a pool of water starting to form on the ice,” Stinett said.
