Three members of a Federal Way family were sent to the hospital on Sunday night after a collision with a drunk driver along the south shore of Hood Canal.

The family was driving east on Highway 106 south of Belfair with two adults, a 10-year-old, 16-year-old and 18-year-old in the car, when a 2021 Mazda CX 30 driving the opposite direction crossed over the center line and struck their 2014 Lexus GX460 near milepost 13 at 7:26 p.m., reported the Washington State Patrol. Both cars were totaled and came to rest in the middle of the road.

Both adults and the 16-year-old were taken to St. Anthony Hospital for their injuries. The single driver of the opposite vehicle, a 40-year-old woman from Bremerton, was taken to St. Michael Medical Center. She was arrested on suspicion of vehicular assault and a DUI.
