Johnnie’s Pastrami was founded in 1952 by brothers Eddie and Eli Passy, so it has just celebrated its 70th anniversary. In this era, when restaurants come and go with increasingly alarming frequency, that’s hugely impressive. That said, this place really is more than a restaurant now. It’s as much a part of Culver City as any iconic landmark, and the customers just keep showing up. Johnnie’s Pastrami is bucking the trend – loyalty does exist in business.
THE SOUL TRADER Continues Festival Journey with Three Festivals in September
THE SOUL TRADER, a new supernatural thriller from director/producer Susan Dynner and her production company Aberration Films, will have three screenings around the country in September, beginning with a Labor Day screening at LA’s Rock the Shorts Film Festival. That’s followed by the DC Shorts Film Festival and the Calabasas Film Festival, with more to come. Mini therapy horses provide big help for trauma victims in LA County
They’re roughly a fifth the size of a regular horse, fit perfectly in the back of a van and are helping people deal with mental and physical trauma all over LA County. “Valentina,” “Blue Moon” and “Penelope Von Schweets” are just three of Victoria Nodinoff-Netanel’s 10 miniature horses, stabled in her yard in Calabasas. Her non-profit is called MiniTherapyHorses.com – and the mission is in the name: bring smiles to faces and warmth to hearts in order to help people heal.
