Homeowner fatally shoots intruder in Scott City
SCOTT CITY, MO (KBSI) – A homeowner called 911 to report he shot a man after he kicked in his back door in Scott City, MO on Aug. 24 at 2:34 p.m. When officers arrived at the scene the homeowner led them to the shot intruder. First responders began life-saving measures but he was pronounced dead at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, MO. Officers investigated it as a homicide but ultimately ruled the homeowner was acting in self-defense and protecting himself and his property. The intruder has been identified as Jason L. Vermillion of Scott City.
