Christmas in July? Seminole County nonprofit teams up to help train next generations of Santas
WINTER SPRINGS, Fla. – Ho, ho, how do you portray Santa in the correct way? Well, the Winter Springs nonprofit Christmas Dreams is partnering with School4Santas to host a two-day event to train the next generation of “Santas, Mrs. Claus and those interested in the Santa industry,” according to a news release.
Oviedo moves forward with Police Building Referendum for Nov. 5 elections
OVIEDO, Fla. — The city of Oviedo is revising its pitch to voters to ask for more than $20 million in taxpayer money to revamp the city’s police headquarters. Last year, more than 60% of voters voted against the referendum that would have allowed the city to borrow up to $35 million for the proposed Public Safety Building Project.
Darden To Acquire Chuy’s
Darden Restaurants announced on July 17 that it’s buying the Tex-Mex chain Chuy’s. Orlando, FL-based Darden, which owns Olive Garden, The Capital Grill, LongHorn Steakhouse, Cheddars, Yard House and other casual dining brands, will pay about $605 million for Chuy’s in an all-cash transaction. The deal will help diversify the Darden portfolio into a new dining category, the company says.
