Fire damages apartment near Centre County courthouse

BELLEFONTE, Pa. (WTAJ) — First responders were on-scene of a fire at an apartment building along the 100 block of East High Street in Bellefonte near the Centre County courthouse Friday afternoon.

According to Malachi Moyer, Assistant Chief for the Undine Fire Company, the call was placed for a smoking outlet. When crews arrived on scene, they found smoke coming from the upper floors of the building.

There was fire on the third floor and in the attic of the building and additional crews had to be called for manpower due to the hot weather.

Traffic was blocked off as crews from Bellefonte, State College and Pleasant Gap put out the fire.

No one was injured and an investigation into the cause of the fire is ongoing.
