Appointments of two men to serve on the board of trustees for the Troy Fire Protection District which were brought forward by Madison County Board Chairman Kurt Prenzler, first considered in May then postponed until this month, have failed to move forward due to a lack of a majority vote of support.

Valley Park Woman Drowns In Big River
A Valley Park woman drowned Sunday afternoon in St. Francois County. According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 40-year-old Melissa A. Hill of Valley Park, Mo., entered the water around 2:15 p.m. to help another individual in the water, upstream from St. Francois State Park on the Big River. Hill became unconscious and was found floating face down by bystanders, who recovered Hill and began life-saving measures, but were unsuccessful.
