Consultant hired to look at future of Wichita water plant
The Wichita City Council has approved a contract with an engineering consultant to look at the future of the city’s current water treatment facility. The Main Water Treatment Plant at 1800 West Museum Boulevard was constructed in 1939 and was expanded in 1954. It will be replaced by the new Wichita Water Works plant that has been under construction near 21st and Zoo Boulevard, and the new facility should be completed in early 2025. The new plant will have a capacity of 120 million gallons of water per day.
