I remember being in elementary and middle school preparing for the ACT that I would have to take in my junior year of high school. My classmates and I were told that the skills we were learning from 3rd-10th grade would accurately prepare our brains for one of the most important tests of our lives. Well, they couldn't be more wrong since the state of Michigan switched to the SAT during my sophomore year of high school.

20-year-old Detroit man part of moving crew dies after jumping off boat into Oakland County lake
(CBS DETROIT) - A 20-year-old Detroit man drowned while swimming in an Oakland County lake over the weekend, officials said. The man was part of a crew that was helping a resident move. The victim, identified as Marsalis Quintin Carter, allegedly jumped off the side of a pontoon boat into Taylor Lake in Rose Township Saturday morning and did not resurface. Allen Park takes first steps toward $8.5 million fire station renovations
The Allen Park City Council will soon be considering an $8.5 million project to renovate the fire station and implement a new millage. The city’s current fire station opened in 1969. City Administrator Mark Kibby said there are structural issues, foundation issues, plumbing and electrical issues and a complete lack of technology in the station.
