A teenager was stabbed in her neck area and her boyfriend has been arrested and charged with attempted first-degree murder and one count of aggravated domestic battery, the O’Fallon Police Department said Wednesday.

Havion A. Treadwell, 20, was charged in connection with the attack on Monday, according to St. Clair County Court records. His address was not listed.

The 19-year-old victim “lost a significant amount of blood,” from a single stab wound, according to an O’Fallon Police Department news release.

“The victim is recovering in the hospital,” the release stated.

Police and O’Fallon EMS responded at about 6:30 a.m. Monday to the 600 block of White Oak following a 911 call of “a woman being stabbed inside her apartment.”

The stabbing occurred during an altercation with her boyfriend, who was identified as Treadwell.

Officers found Treadwell walking along West Highway 50 near Interstate 64, where he was arrested after a brief foot chase shortly after the stabbing, the news release stated.

Court records do not list a defense attorney for Treadwell, who was being held in the St. Clair County Jail on Wednesday.

A detention hearing is scheduled for him on Thursday.
