State of Illinois hiring for dozens of jobs in the metro-east. One pays up to $104K

If you’re searching for a new job, you may want to check out the Illinois state government’s latest listings, including 34 open positions within 50 miles of Belleville.
Illinois offers unemployment assistance to eligible applicants with acceptable reasons for leaving their last job. Two new labor-related laws went into effect as well July 1, including the Freelance Worker Protection Act and protections for child social media influencers.
The Work for Illinois website displays job listings, deadlines and qualifications, and you can apply for positions online. We’ve rounded up five local positions and the starting wages, all available as of Aug. 13.
Rehabilitation/mobility instructor
Agency: Department of Human Services
Wage: $72,060 to $104,136 per year
Location: East Alton
Application deadline: Aug. 16
Minimum qualifications for this position include a “master’s degree with major coursework in rehabilitation, rehabilitation counseling, rehabilitation teaching, guidance and counseling, orientation and mobility, low vision and blindness, special education, or a closely related field” and one year of “professional experience in rehabilitation instruction and counseling such as could be gained from completion of an agency-sponsored training program,” the listing says.
Here are the listing’s job responsibilities:
“Provides professional instruction and counseling in independent living skills to individuals who are blind, visually impaired and/or Deafblind in an assigned geographical area in the Bureau of Customer and Community Blind Services.
Manages caseload of customers who are Blind, Visually Impaired, or DeafBlind.
Establishes and nurtures effective working relationships with customers.
Participates in staff meetings and assists with training for trainee level staff.”
Agency: Department of Children and Family Services
Wage: $3,852 per month anticipated starting salary
Location: Collinsville

Minimum qualifications for the team clerical position include “knowledge, skill, and mental development” equivalent to completion of high school, two years of office experience and the ability to type accurately at 45 words per minute.
The position’s responsibilities include, according to the listing:
“Answers incoming phone calls and greets visitors
Establishes and maintains case files
Completes and keyboards travel vouchers from handwritten materials, calculates and reviews to ensure accuracy, and returns to workers for review and signature
Provides clerical office support as a secretary to the team supervisors and professional staff
Orients professional and other clerical staff regarding Departmental rules and office procedures.”
Minimum qualifications for this position include “knowledge, skill, and mental development” equivalent to four years of college, preferably with courses in social science or a related field of the social sciences, the listing says.
The position’s responsibilities include, according to the listing:
Receives on the job training for a period of six to 12 months to develop the knowledge, understanding and practical skills needed to manage a public assistance caseload such as Temporary Assistance to Needy Families including earned income cases, Medical Assistance No Grant including Spenddown cases, Aid to the Aged, Blind and Disabled , Group Care, Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program or other such cases.
“Informs clients of the changes in the State’s Welfare Programs, work incentive programs, child support services and encourages client participation in these programs.
Receives training in managing earned income cases and in determining continued eligibility for TANF.
Evaluates requests and identifies special needs of client for referral to appropriate services.
Receives training in records and updating case status changes, such as change in address, unit composition and number, budget computation, SNAP and medical eligibility.”
Wage: $5,055 to $6,555 per month anticipated starting salary
Location: Collinsville

Minimum qualifications for this position include a bachelor’s degree in computer science or management systems, or completion of two years of college plus two years of experience developing computer applications, or six years of experience developing computer applications, the listing says.
Successful applicants also need a valid driver’s license and will be required to do occasional in-state travel, which may include overnight trips.
Job responsibilities include, the listing says:
“Ensures the development, maintenance, and documentation of technology applications to meet departmental, regional, and district technology goals and objectives.
Develops and maintains data resources to ensure accurate information to District 8 users.
Ensures adequate user training of technology applications by assessing user needs and training curriculum.
Performs as technology team project leader on development projects as assigned.
Provides the Regional IT Manager with pertinent and timely application documentation for charter development.
Performs duties in compliance with departmental safety rules. Performs all duties in a manner conducive to the fair and equitable treatment of all employees.”

Wage: $6,339 per month anticipated starting salary
Location: East St. Louis

Minimum qualifications for this position include “knowledge, skill, and mental development” equivalent to four years of college, preferably with coursework in business or public administration, as well as two years of responsible administrative experience in a public or business organization involving work in accounting.
Job responsibilities include, the listing says:
“Serves as working supervisor
Reviews and analyzes expenditure data, monitoring all lines in the operations portion of the budget
Reviews and evaluates activities, workflow and office procedures within the region
Controls orders for supplies, forms and office equipment.”
