Millstadt man dies in motorcycle crash, coroner says

A 22-year-old Millstadt man died in a motorcycle crash on a frontage road along Interstate 55, the Madison County coroner said Wednesday.

Dylan Hardin Stanley was pronounced dead at the scene, according to a news release from Coroner Steve Nonn.

Stanley’s family found the crash site at about 2:41 a.m. Wednesday by using a cellphone app to track his location because they were concerned that he had not returned home, Nonn said.

Stanley, who was wearing a helmet, was driving a 2024 Honda CBX 1000 motorcycle at “a high rate of speed” southbound on the frontage road, which is also known as Old U.S. Route 66, when he left the roadway and crashed into the median area next to the interstate, according to the coroner.

“The preliminary cause of death is blunt head and chest trauma,” said Nonn’s news release.

Illinois State Police said in a news release that troopers are investigating the crash, which occurred near the frontage road’s intersection with Illinois 4 in northeastern Madison County.

Leesman Funeral Home is handling funeral arrangements.

Stanley’s crash occurred about three miles from the site where a bicyclist was fatally struck Tuesday night in Livingston. The motorist in this case has been charged with driving under the influence.
