First day of school called off at Starmont after faculty become sick
ARLINGTON, Iowa — The first day of school at Starmont Community Schools was canceled on Friday after several employees fell sick Thursday. The school announced on social media that the first day of school will now be Monday. School leaders also called off all sports practices on Friday evening.

Man Found Shot to Death in Davenport Parking Lot Early Saturday
Davenport, IA – A man was found shot to death in a parking lot early Saturday morning in Davenport. Police responded to the 100 block of West River Drive around 12:24 a.m. after receiving reports of gunfire. Upon arrival, officers discovered the adult male victim, who had sustained multiple gunshot wounds. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

DAVENPORT, Iowa (KWQC) - Davenport Police and Iowa State Patrol are investigating a shots fired call that happened around 1:00am Saturday, August 24, 2024. Squad cars filled the parking lot next to Davenport’s Skybridge when TV6 crews arrived on the scene. The parking lot was surrounded by crime scene tape - as officers and forensic teams set up to do the investigation.
