City officials approved the construction of the theme park as the center of its $60 million project, which will overhaul the formation of a 575-acre district.

The renovations, part of the city’s “Good Life Districts,” were authorized by the state legislature in order to bolster its retail, entertainment, and tourism industries.

Good Life Districts are investments for the city, as half of the sales tax revenue generated within the districts goes back to help pay for its amenities.

The park is expected to generate around $900,000 in sales tax revenue per year.

The huge indoor waterpark will be open year-round and feature a retractable roof that opens up the space during permissible weather.

It will be modeled after Epic Waters Indoor Waterpark in Grand Prairie, Texas, and the city has contracted American Resort Management, which worked on the Texan park, to build it.

“We expect thousands of visitors from all over the Midwest to visit Bellevue Bay Indoor Waterpark every year, and this name lets them know exactly where it is and what it is,” said Bellevue Mayor Rusty Hike in a statement .

“It is important, and we are proud to have our city’s name attached to a project of this magnitude.

“Visitors will go back home and tell their friends how much fun they had at Bellevue Bay Indoor Waterpark!”

The family -friendly theme park is expected to include a selection of aquatic rides, including water slides, a lazy river, wave pools, and interactive play spaces, with Bellevue residents to receive discounted admission.

Guests will also have the gift of convenience, as the park will be located near food and drink stations, retail stores, event spaces, and attached to hotels.

The city reported in a statement that negotiations are currently underway with national hotel brands such as Raddison, Marriot, and Hilton.

The designated hotels will be connected to the park through “covered, climate-controlled walkways to better serve guests in the fall and winter months.”

The Bellevue Bay Indoor Waterpark is expected to generate a huge return for the city, with over $70 million in projected annual economic activity.

The city also anticipates increased foot traffic, with over 400,000 expected annual visitors.

“This groundbreaking project represents a significant investment in Bellevue’s tourism and leisure infrastructure,” said Richard Coleman, CEO of American Resort Management.

“This will put Bellevue on the map as a premier destination for family-friendly entertainment.

“With its retractable roof, the waterpark will offer year-round enjoyment, regardless of the weather, ensuring a consistent flow of visitors and revenue for the local economy.”

Construction on the waterpark will begin this summer and is expected to wrap up by the end of the year. Development is expected to take up to 24 months.

The park is expected to open in the summer of 2026.
