Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro was quick to endorse fellow Democrat Kamala Harris for President on Sunday after President Joe Biden bowed out of the race.

Despite being rumored to be on a short list for Harris’ Vice President pick, Shapiro is saying very little about potentially joining the ticket.

“The Vice President has a deeply personal decision to make as to who she wants to run with, who she wants to govern with, and who she thinks is prepared to help her lead the nation. She should make that decision free from any sort of political pressure,” Shapiro said Monday afternoon while spending some time at an Eat’n Park in Bellevue.

Channel 11 was there and asked people how they feel about Shapiro possibly being on Harris’ presidential ticket.

“I think he’s wonderful, he’s done a lot for Pennsylvania, and I think he would be the best choice right now,” said Denise Ranalli-Russell.

“Due to his background, what I’ve known that he’s done for Pennsylvania, I did vote for him in the last election, so I would vote for him again,” added Monique Hitchcock.

Shapiro told reporters he’s known Harris for nearly 20 years and spoke with her and President Biden Sunday.

He did not give much insight into what was discussed.

“The entire conversation was devoted to figuring out how we can work together to defeat Donald Trump,” Shapiro said.

While he is not divulging much, it’s clear Shapiro knows just how important Pennsylvania will be in the upcoming election.

“Pennsylvania is the ballgame,” Shapiro said. “I think it is the swingiest of all swing states in the country. I think it’s a fairly bipartisan consensus that whoever wins Pennsylvania wins the presidency.”
