BELLINGHAM, WASHINGTON - LL Flooring's brand new location next to Walmart in Bellingham is set to permanently close, as part of a list of 94 stores across 30 states that will be shutting their doors. The company’s decision to close these locations comes as it files for bankruptcy, a move that has sent ripples through the retail flooring industry.

The Bellingham store, which had only recently opened its doors, was anticipated to serve as a key location for the company in the region. However, the economic challenges faced by LL Flooring, formerly known as Lumber Liquidators, have led to a widespread contraction of its retail footprint.

With the closure of this brand new location, questions are already being raised about the future of the building situated in the busy retail area next to Walmart. The building’s prime location makes it an attractive option for potential new tenants or businesses looking to expand in Bellingham.

The area is already seeing a rise in more and more businesses joining the area such as the soon to be Texas Roadhouse and Trader Joe's locations.

Local real estate experts suggest that the space could quickly be repurposed, given the ongoing demand for commercial properties in the area. Potential occupants could range from other retail businesses to service providers seeking visibility in one of Bellingham’s busiest shopping districts. The building itself seems spacious enough to accommodate 5-7 different businesses under one roof.

The next steps for the now-vacant LL Flooring building will be critical in determining how this high-profile retail space will be utilized in the future.

Despite the influx of new businesses in the Bellingham area, we've seen a significant wave of commercial closures recently. Notable examples include the shutdown of two Rite Aid stores, Bed Bath & Beyond, the impending closure of Big Lots, LL Flooring, and several other businesses that are currently in the early stages of closing or considering their options.
