BELLINGHAM, WASHINGTON – Bellingham is set to host the highly anticipated Rockin’ The Railroad Block Party on August 18, from 1 PM to 7 PM in downtown Bellingham. This event will celebrate the community with an exciting mix of music, arts, and local initiatives, all in one location.

Beats on the Bay will kick off the festivities, organized by the Community Boating Center and The Schooner Zodiac. Attendees can look forward to an afternoon of vibrant music and scenic views that capture the essence of summer in Bellingham.

In addition to musical performances, the event will showcase the Opportunity Council’s Economic Security for All (EcSA) Program. This 12-month program aims to empower participants by providing career coaching, financial education, and community mentorship. Attendees will have the opportunity to learn how the program supports individuals in reaching their financial goals and achieving career milestones, with incentives of up to $3,500 for program participants.

Volunteers are also needed for the event. Those interested in contributing their time can contact Allied Arts of Whatcom County at artsfestival@alliedarts.org or call 360-676-8548.

Adding to the event’s cultural offerings, Akiko Victorson will be demonstrating her expertise in Japanese calligraphy (SHODO). Victorson, who trained with a master calligrapher in Japan, will be presenting her craft and offering calligraphy scrolls for sale. Her work merges traditional techniques with modern expression, providing a unique artistic experience for attendees.

The Rockin’ The Railroad Block Party is expected to be a highlight of the summer, blending music, community engagement, and cultural experiences into a memorable day for all. Residents and visitors alike are encouraged to join in the celebration and enjoy the diverse activities on offer.
