    Whatcom Roundup: Local bar closes; restaurant opening update; chain moving to Bellingham

    Boots Bar & Lounge closed

    Boots Bar & Lounge, a country bar with line dancing, closed its doors permanently, according to an Instagram post on the bar’s page.

    The husband and wife owned bar first opened in December 2022 and hosted a variety of line dancing and karaoke nights. The bar announced its closure back in April.

    “We are sad to announce the end of Boots. Unfortunately we will not be able to renew our lease and our doors have closed,” the Instagram post states.

    Boots Bar & Lounge was located at 1263 Barkley Blvd. in Bellingham.

    Doug’s Burgers makes progress to brick and mortar

    Doug’s Burgers opened its brick-and-mortar location for takeout only in June , but is making progress on the restaurant to start serving in-house.

    The restaurant filed two permits with the city of Bellingham for bar fixtures and an updated floor plan, half wall and bar on July 3. The permits were approved July 3.

    The restaurant is at 2527 Meridian St.

    Chick-fil-A makes progress on new location

    Chick-fil-A is slowly making progress to its new Whatcom County location. According to our most recent update on the popular chain restaurant , the 5,028-square-foot restaurant at 4030 Cordata Parkway will feature a play area for children and a dual-lane drive thru. Recent plans for the new restaurant also included illustrations for its proposed design and layout.
