CMPD K-9 Officer Dies From Self-Inflicted Gunshot Wound in West Charlotte
Yesterday afternoon a CMPD officer was found dead in West Charlotte by a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The incident occurred near the intersection of Steele Creek Road and Dorcas Lane, just south of the airport. According to CMPD, K-9 Officer Brent Simpson was found at about noon yesterday. Numerous squad cars rushed to the area after officer-involved shooting reports went out across the police scanners. Officer Simpson was rushed to the hospital with 1 self-inflicted gunshot wound where he tragically passed away.
