Lawrence man sentenced for 2023 aggravated battery conviction
Douglas County District Attorney Suzanne Valdez announced today that a Lawrence man was sentenced to 21 months in the Kansas Department of Corrections for his involvement in a 2023 aggravated battery charge.
WWll airman’s remains identified, to be buried at Ft. Leavenworth
Second Lieutenant John E. McLauchlen Jr. of Detroit was killed in action in 1943 during the Second World War. The Army airman was a member of the 436th Bombardment Squadron, 7th Bombardment Group. Over 80 years later, his remains have been identified and accounted for.

Lawrence woman set to serve time for boyfriend’s fentanyl-related death
LAWRENCE, Kan. (KCTV) - A Lawrence woman is set to spend time in prison after she pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter in the fentanyl-related death of her boyfriend. Douglas County District Attorney Suzanne Valdez announced on Wednesday, July 3, that Chloe L. Colby, 23, of Lawrence, pleaded no contest to involuntary manslaughter and conspiracy to commit unlawful distribution of a controlled substance. The move follows the death of a 21-year-old Lawrence man.
