Generous Donation from Fire Department
Salina Area Technical College looks to receive a generous donation from the Fire Department. This donation will be an Engine 6 (FD unit 426) firetruck that Salina Area Tech will utilize for their fire science rescue program. Salina Area Tech Executive Director of Foundation, Brenda Gutierrez says this program is “growing” and it affords the opportunity for students to learn and grow. She explained to Salina city commission the details of the program.

Leavenworth man found guilty of opening fire outside bar, making threats
LEAVENWORTH, Kan. (KCTV) - A man who fired shots at a woman and her two friends outside a Leavenworth bar in March was found guilty Tuesday of several charges. Court records showed 42-year-old Courtney L. Roberson was convicted of two counts of aggravated assault, two counts of making criminal threats and one count each of criminal discharge of a firearm and criminal damage of property following a March 8, 2024 incident.

Sedgwick County eviction filings continued to rise in 2023, hitting five-year high
Khanh Kim Nguyen, a local landlord, and three of her tenants were in Sedgwick County eviction court on the morning of Aug. 8. Each tenant was late on rent or hadn’t paid the full amount they owed, Nguyen said. With the cost of insurance and property taxes rising on the dozens of units she owns, Nguyen said she can’t hold back on filing for eviction.
