Azeez Ganiyu leads Beloit College to come-from-behind win over Ripon

RIPON, Wis. — Senior Azeez Ganiyu dropped in 24 points to power Beloit College to a 60-56 come-from-behind victory over the host Ripon on Wedneday night.

The Buccaneers trailed by six points at the half, but used some terrific free throw shooting and points in the paint to subdue the Red Hawks and improve to 7-5 in the Midwest Conference, 13-7 overall. Ripon slipped to 4-7 in conference action and 6-14 overall.

Ganiyu also pulled down seven rebounds and had two blocked shots and a steal. The Beloit Memorial High School product posted his 17th double-figure scoring game of the season.

He was the only Buc in double figures. Clayton Jenny was next high with eight points, three rebounds and two steals. Jenny was 4-for-4 from the free-throw line.

Off the bench, freshman Anthony Carter had a solid game with seven points and four rebound in 23 minutes of action.

Beloit outscored Ripon 34-24 in the pain to offset a rough night from the perimeter. The Bucs converted only 27.3 percent of their 3-point tries (3-11).

The Bucs return to Flood Arena on Saturday to play the Cornell Rams at 1 p.m.
