    Rock Valley girls basketball: Beloit Turner survives double OT vs. Evansville

    A low-scoring first half between Beloit Turner and Evansville turned into a two-overtime thriller Tuesday night that the Trojans found themselves on the winning side of 50-48.

    The Trojans (17-4, 10-2 Rock Valley Rock) trailed 15-12 at halftime before exploding for 30 points after as senior Mariya Babilius hit two treys and scored all 10 of her points in the second half while sophomore Jayla Hodges added another 10.

    Hodges hit a pair of free throws in the first overtime while Ava Brandenburg hit a two-pointer, forcing the game to a second extra period, where Turner held the Blue Devils to just three points.

    Hodges hit two more shots from the charity stripe before fouling out and finishing 20 points for Turner. Sophomore Portia Segerstrom, who ended 15, added a layup and free throw in the second overtime to help secure the win.

    Brandenburg led Evansville (5-16, 5-7 RVR) with 18 points. Three Blue Devils fouled out of the game.

    Edgerton 66, Walworth Big Foot 20 — The No. 7 Crimson Tide reached 20 wins for the third straight season Tuesday with a big win over the Chiefs.

    The Crimson Tide (20-1 overall, 11-0 Rock Valley Rock) led 49-8 at halftime and had two double-digit scorers in the first half: Claudia Jenny with 10 and Gracee Langer with 12.

    Jenny didn't score in the second half, and Langer added three more to finish with 15. Ten Crimson Tide players scored in the game.

    Leah Paulsen led the Chiefs (7-14, 3-8) with eight points.

    Brodhead 80, Clinton 47 — Addison Yates and Alecia Dahl combined for 60 points as the Brodhead girls basketball team bounced Rock Valley Rock Division rival Clinton 80-47 on Tuesday night.

    The Cardinals (13-7, 7-4 RVR) jumped out to a solid 41-29 lead by halftime as Dahl poured on 21 points and Yates added 17. No Cougar had more than one field goal before halftime as Hannah Hahn’s three points were the highest first-half total.

    Clinton (3-16, 1-10) had no answer for Brodhead’s work in the paint as the Cardinals had just one trey to 33 buckets from inside the arc. Yates scored 10 more points after halftime to finish with 27 while Dahl’s 12 put her final output at 33.

    Hahn finished with nine points for the Cougars while Ava Mueller ended with eight.

    Clinton will next play at Whitewater on Thursday at 7 p.m. while Brodhead faces Edgerton on the road at the same time.
