Beloit College routs Maranatha Baptist in men's basketball

WATERTOWN, Wis. — Beloit College’s men’s basketball team was terrific from 2-point range, horrible on 3-pointers and so-so at the free throw line.

Somehow that added up to an 80-65 non-conference romp over host Maranatha Baptist on Tuesday night.

Senior Azeez Ganiyu converted 9-of-11 field goals on his way to a team-high 22 points and fell just one short of a triple double with nine rebounds. He was the lone Buccaneer scoring in double figures. Michael Myles converted both of his 3-point shots and was next high with eight.

As a team, Beloit (14-8) was just 5-of-28 from beyond the arc for 17.9 percent. Overall, though, the Bucs were 41.7, thanks to hitting 25-of-44 2-point tries.

The Bucs outrebounded the hosts 49-22. Dae’Quan Davis had a team-high 10 boards.

Beloit hosts Knox at 1 p.m. Saturday.
