    Beloit Memorial scores six unanswered goals in 8-3 hockey win over Monroe

    MONROE, Wis. — Beloit Memorial’s hockey team continued its late-season surge, knocking off host Monroe 8-3 Thursday night with six different Purple Knights getting into the scoring act.

    Beloit spotted Monroe a 1-0 lead at the Stateline Ice & Community Expo as Cameron Newcomer scored an unassisted goal with 4:26 left in the first period.

    Less than 2 minutes later, Max Allen tied it on a power-play goal assisted by Marcus Allen.

    With only 31 seconds remaining in the period, Jaxon Walenga put Beloit (9-15-0) on top with a goal assisted by Drake Juhl and Jayden Piccione.

    The Knights tacked on two unanswered goals in the second period. Logan Tysse scored off assists by Nathan Anastasi and Gavin Brady. Hononegah sophomore Brady then made it 4-1 with his first goal off an assist by Max Allen.

    Both teams scored twice in the third period. Cole Rowald scored on an unassisted power play and Brady got his second goal off an assist by Marcus Allen to cap Beloit’s third straight win.

    Winning goalie Gentry Grant had 24 saves while Brock Brandl had 53 for Monroe (13-7-1).
