KISSIMMEE, Fla.—The Beloit College softball team remained winless in Florida after falling 6-4 to The College of Wooster and 11-5 to Haverford College on Monday morning.

The Buccaneers, taking part in The Spring Games during the college’s spring break, fell to 1-5 overall after being swept in the doubleheader.

Beloit jumped on the Fighting Scots first in game one after Turner graduate Jocelyn Jordan opened the game with a single and later scored on a throwing error by the catcher.

But Wooster responded with four runs in the bottom of the first as Bucs’ starter Lylah Murrah struggled mightily with her command and walked in three runs.

Samantha Friedrichsohn relieved Murrah but hit the first batter to bring another run home. The sophomore settled in and finished the game, going 5 2-3 innings while allowing seven hits, two earned runs and striking out six.

Turner grad Sydney Harbison cut the lead in half in the fourth after scoring Kaylee Witte, who had singled, on a fielder’s choice.

Witte provided an RBI single and Allison Olson’s one-run single made it 6-4 and helped put two on with two outs in the seventh before a fielder’s choice ended the game.

Witte went 3-for-4 with a run and RBI while Angela Donath, Olson and Siddalee Meyers all provided two hits.

Tori Conner paced the Scots with three hits and earned the win by throwing all seven frames and striking out five. She allowed four runs, three earned, on 10 hits.

In game two, the Fords jumped on Beloit with eight runs in the first two innings. Donath’s RBI single in the third was answered when Maddie Etheridge scored on a wild pitch to make it 9-1.

Jordan smacked a two-run double and later scored on an error while Briana Arteaga brought a run home on a single in a four-run fourth inning.

But Beloit, which was outhit 14-8, would get no further with Haverford plating two more runs in the seventh.

Arteaga, Olson and Donath all recorded two hits for the Bucs while the Fords were led by Mia Kessinger and Lauren Martin, each with three.

    Each team committed five errors.

Beloit is back in action on Wednesday at 10 a.m. when it faces Simpson College.
