CLERMONT, Fla. — The Beloit College softball team dropped its final two games in The Spring Games hosted in Florida on Friday.

The Buccaneers, who finished the trip 1-9, first fell 4-1 to Springfield College and then lost an 11-10 extra-inning heartbreaker to Plymouth State University in the afternoon game.

In the first game, Angela Donath helped Beloit strike first when she scored Lylah Murrah with an infield single. Ashley Pugliese and Amelia DeRosa settled in for the Pride (8-2) from there as they only allowed three more hits and two walks while striking out four over the final six frames.

Beloit’s Helena Harrison dropped to 0-5 after she allowed five hits and two earned runs. Kaylee Witte allowed two earned runs in two innings while Samantha Friedrichsohn allowed two hits in two frames but didn’t allow a run.

    Donath went 3-for-3 for Beloit.

Against Plymouth (6-8), the Bucs jumped out to a 2-0 lead behind an RBI triple from Murrah and an RBI single from Siddalee Meyers.

Paloma Reyes made it a three-run lead in the second with her one-run single before the Panthers stormed ahead with three runs in the bottom of the second and another in the third.

Meyers’ two-run single in the fourth gave Beloit a 5-4 lead before Plymouth snatched it back with two runs in the fourth. The Bucs then got hot as Sydney Harbison tied it up in the seventh with a sacrifice fly to force extra innings.

In the eighth, Donath, Meyers and Harbison all knocked in runs via singles and Stella Lutes drew a bases-loaded walk to give Beloit a 10-6 lead. But a triple and an error helped the Panthers tie it at 10 and in the ninth, Caroline Macri got the winning run across with her bunt single.

Meyers had three hits for the Bucs while Briana Arteaga, Donath and Lutes all added two in the 13-hit performance.
