BELOIT — Beloit College took the first two games of its series with the University of Chicago on the road, 4-2 and 12-8, but Wednesday afternoon, the Maroons had revenge in mind.
U-Chicago won 11-9 at The Ballpark at Strong Stadium, snapping the Bucs’ six-game winning streak.
Beloit (16-7, 9-3 MWC) was able to erase an early 3-0 deficit, scoring three times in the second inings. The key hits were an RBI double by Miles Souza and an RBI single by Blake Nelson.
U-Chicago (6-15, 5-2) went back on top 7-3, but Beloit raillied again in the fourth when Jack Alport blasted a three-run homer. The Bucs went on to load the bases and Souza walked to tie the game.
Matt O’Leary followed a double by Nelson with a homer to put the Bucs on top 9-7. The Maroons tied it in the sixth and went up 11-9 in the eighth. Beloit was shut down in the eighth and ninth.
The Bucs used seven pitchers: Kaiya Nishino Ben Schweit, Micah Wilke, Tommy Murray, Aiden Phipps, Harvey Pena and Alport.
