BELOIT — The Beloit Sky Carp treated a large crowd of school-aged fans to their second straight offensive explosion on Wednesday afternoon at ABC Supply Stadium.

After scoring 11 runs on Tuesday, the Sky Carp pounded out 19 hits, including six home runs, in a 19-4 romp over the South Bend Cubs. Beloit improved to 4-0 at home this season.

The Sky Carp’s Joe Mack continued his hot start to the season by going 4-for-6 with a grand slam and seven runs batted in.

Josh Zamora also had a terrific day, hitting a pair of homers and driving in five. Brett Roberts fell just a triple shy of the cycle and Mark Coley, the hero of Tuesday’s win with a grand slam, smacked his second homer in as many days since joining the Sky Carp.

Beloit starter Jacob Miller went the first 4 1-3 innings and allowed only one run while a trio of relievers finished things off on the breezy day. Yeuris Jimenez (1-0) was credited with the victory, allowing a run in 1 1-3 innings.

Beloit scored six times in the second inning. Roberts doubled and Cameron Barstad walked before Zamora launched a three-run homer to center. Jorge Caballero walked and Johnny Olmstead singled before Coley lined out to third. Yiddi Cappe followed with an RBI single to chase Peoria starter Will Sanders.

Reliever Tyler Santana was greeted by Mack’s two-run single for a 6-0 lead.

Zamora struck again in the third, belting a two-run homer and Caballero followed with a blast of his own for a 9-0 lead. The inning continued with Coley doubling to left and Cappe walking to prompt another pitching change. Chase Walters coaxed Mack to ground out with Olmstead scoring for a 10-0 advantage.

Coley’s solo homer hiked the lead to 11-1 in the fifth inning.

After South Bend pushed across a run in the sixth, the Sky Carp got the run back in the bottom of the inning on Roberts’ homer to center to make it 12-2. The 13th run scored later in the inning when reliever Angel Gonzalez uncorked a wild pitch to plate Barstad from third.

South Bend tallied a run off reliever Tyler Eckberg in the seventh, but Beloit went back to work in the eighth against reliever Favian Pertuz. Barstad singled, Zamora walked and Caballero singled before Olmstead hit a sacrifice fly for a 14-3 lead. Coley and Cappe both singled for another run, leaving the bags loaded for Mack. He smacked a grand slam to right field for a 19-3 margin.

The Cubs scored a run off Jared Poland in the ninth.
