    Beloit Memorial's boys tennis team falls to Waterford

    BELOIT — Beloit Memorial’s boys tennis team ran up against a juggernaut Thursday, losing to visiting Waterford in Southern Lakes Conference action 7-0.

    At No. 1 singles, Andrew Vescio of Waterford defeated Beloit’s Alex Funk, 6-0, 6-0. That was also the score in the No. 2 match between Waterford’s Jack Canright and Beloit’s Anthony Ferrera and No. 3 Noah Leshok of Waterford and Nick Ostenson-Zweifel of Beloit. In No. 4 singles, Waterford’s Josh Reichert defeated Beloit’s Daniel Guevara, 6-1, 6-0.

    Waterford also swept the doubles competition, although the No. 1 match was more competitive. Waterford’s Johnny Holma and Castor Warnke defeated Beloit’s Francisco Rebolledo-Valdez and Abraham Perez-Guzman, 6-4, 6-1.

    In No. 2 doubles, Waterford’s Derek Splitgerber and Sawyer Kastenson downed Beloit’s Mohanad Nabhan and Gabe Hellen 6-0, 6-0 and in No. 3, Waterford’s Isaac Wong and Owen Hoffman knocked off Beloit’s Alex Aleman and Adrian Gonzalez, 6-0, 6-2.

    The Purple Knights are now off until May 3 when they host Burlington.
