    Jaedyn Coleman, Trey Beasley shine for Beloit Memorial track team

    ROCKFORD — Jaedyn Coleman and Trey Beasley led the way as Beloit Memorial finished a strong fourth place in the Rockford East Relays on Saturday, held at Swanson Stadium.

    Coleman won the discus competition with a toss of 42.30 meters (138-foot, 9 inches) and finished second in the shot put (14.24 meters, 46-08),

    Beasley won the high jump (5-10) and took third in the triple jump (11.94 meters, 39-02.25).

    The Purple Knights’ 4x100 relay team also finished first with Vinson Reed, Brian Cunnigan-Little, Caiden Price and Tevin Anderson clocking in at 46.43 seconds.

    The Knights ended up with 45 points, two more than Harlem in the nine-team event and trailing only Rockford East (112), Rockford Guilford (93) and Streator (58). Harlem (43) was fifth, followed by Rockford Jefferson (39), Bowman Academy (29), Elgin Larkin (22) and Pecatonica (18).

    The Knights picked up a fourth from Tucker Sherrod in the discus (36.30 meters, 119-01) and a sixth from Ethan Lulinski in the shot put (10.96, 35-11.50).

    Beloit’s Dontavious Olson was fifth in the 110 high hurdles (18.40). Brayden Bye finished seventh in the 1600 (5:40.13).

    Beloit picked up a pair of seventh places in the 4x200 (Reed, Price, Olson, Anderson, 1:37.20) and the 4x400 (Beasley, Armando Gonzalez, Aidan Donovan, Aidan Greenlee, 3:59.62).

    Rockford Guilford won the girls meet with 113 points, followed by Rockford Jefferson (75), Bowman Academy (73), Elgin Larkin (67), Rockford East (37), Beloit Memorial (32) and Pecatonica (25).

    Beloit’s top finishes were by its 1600 (200, 200, 400, 800) sprint medley team of La’Naisa Dubois, Antionia Mance, Jaslyn Gama and Katelyn Kleinschmidt, which finished first in 4:53.49 and its 4x100 weight relay of Jadyn Gibson, Laila Lee, Anna Friedl and Kleinschmidt, who took first in 1:02.16.

    Beloit’s 4x200 team of Dubois, Brooks, Audrey Mills-Brown and Mance finished second in 1:54.67. The 4x100 team of Dubois, Naima Brooks, Lee and Mance finished fourth in 53.81.

    The Knights’ Brooks was fifth in the 100 (13.76) running into a strong headwind.

    • COUGAR RELAYS: Beloit track teams also competed in the Cougar Relays at Monterey Stadium on Friday.

    Beloit’s Beasley tied for third in the high jump (5-4) and Sherrod finished fourth in the discus (124-10).

    The Knights’ 400 sprint medley relay varsity 9th and 10th team of Reed, Cunnigan-Little, DeMire Young and Price finished third in 47.90.

    Beloit picked up a seventh in the 4x800 relay with Bye, Jesse Martinez, Jose Luna and Andrew Cafengiu (12:05.10). Beloit’s 400 distance medley of Duke Allen, Beasley, Gonzalez and Aidan Greenless was seventh (13:54.80).

    Beloit’s 4x400 girls relay team of Mills-Brown, Kleinschmidt, Naima Brooks and Gama finished fourth in 5:04.76.

    The Knights boys were seventh in the eight-team meet. Janesville Parker won the title with 111 points, followed by Janesville Craig (102), Belleville/New Glarus (89), Edgerton (57), Delavan-Darien (56), Wilmot (47), Beloit (28) and Milton (24).

    Beloit’s girls finished eighth. Craig was first with 103 points, followed by Belleville/New Glarus (87), Parker (85), Delavan-Darien (76), Wilmot (42), Milton (26), Edgerton (18) and Beloit (7).

    • NEW TRIER INVITE: Hononegah’s girls finished fifth in the 14-team meet held at Winnetka New Trier, collecting a pair of individual firsts. Kylie Simpson won the 800 (2:21.47) and Jordan Dimke won the high jump (1.62 meters).

    The Indians’ Emma Krenz (2.97 meters) and Amelia Bronnimann (2.97 meters) finished 2-3 in the pole vault.

    Keila Borges Aragon was third in the 3200 (12:17.70) and Isabelle Molitor sixth (12:39.48).

    The Indians’ 4x800 relay of Simpson, Dimke, Allyson Niedfeldt and Lauren Frake finished third in 9:45.23. Niedfeldt was also fourth in the 1600 (5:33.97).

    Hononegah’s Sophia Hedges was fourth in the 100 (12.79) and ran a leg of the 4x400 relay along with Dimke, Franke and Simpson also finished fourth (4:09.62).

    Homewood-Flossmoor won the meet title with 121 points, followed by Chicago Whitney Young (109), New Trier (88), Maine South Park Ridge (84), Hononegah (60), Glenbrook South (26), Skokie Niles West (21), Zion-Benton (17), Loyola Academy (11), Bloom Township (8), Waukegan (6), Wheeling (4), Chicago Latin (2) and Leyden Franklin Park (1).
