BELOIT — The Beloit Sky Carp will offer a first-of-its-kind drone show that will light up the sky above downtown Beloit following their Wednesday, July 10th game against the Cedar Rapids Kernels.

The show, called “Celebration of America” is put on by Sky Elements Drone Shows, and will feature 100 illuminated drones moving in concert above ABC Supply Stadium in sync with patriotic music.

The postgame display is believed to be the first drone show of its size ever held in the Beloit area.

“We always strive to bring to Beloit experiences that people may only get in large cities, and we wanted to provide a special treat to reflect our pride in our country,” said Sky Carp co-owner Quint Studer. “Beloit may not be large in size, but we are large in heart.”

The team points out that the solar-powered drones provide an eco-friendly alternative to traditional fireworks shows with less noise and mess in downtown Beloit.

The Sky Carp anticipate high demand for the show and encourage fans to buy their tickets as soon as possible to reserve their spot. The game is scheduled to begin at 6:35, with gates opening at 5:30.

Single-game tickets, mini plans, group outings, and season tickets for the 2024 season are available now at Skycarp.com and the ABC Supply Stadium box office.

    • KEY SERIES: The Sky Carp will host the Quad Cities River Bandits for the next six days and the series will give the hosts an opportunity to climb the ladder in the Midwest League West Division.

Beloit, 5-5 in its past 10 games and 11-9 overall, sits in third place, 3.5 games behind Quad Cities and the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers (both 15-6).

The Sky Carp, who boast an 8-1 mark at home, have scored 108 runs while allowing 88. Both statistics rank second in the division.

Tuesday’s game will start at 1:05 p.m. while Wednesday’s game is even earlier, at 11:10 a.m.

    • TREND-SETTERS: Since returning to Beloit, Jake Thompson has played six games and has 12 hits in 24 at-bats for a torrid .500 average. He has hit three doubles, scored a run and knocked in three.

The Sky Carp need his contribution since hot-hitting Joe Mack was promoted. Josh Zamora is also hitting .311 with four home runs and 12 RBIs. Mark Coley is hitting an even .300 and Yiddi Cappe is hitting .299 with two homers, 11 RBIs and four stolen bases.

On the pitching mound, Edgar Sanchez leads Beloit with three victories. Evan Taylor and Josh White each have a save. Ike Buxton has struck out 19 batters.
