    Beloit College softball team wraps up season with doubleheader split against Monmouth

    BELOIT — The Beloit College softball team ended its season by rolling Monmouth College 10-0 in the first game of a doubleheader before the Scots turned the tables and shutout the Bucs 7-0 to split Sunday’s twinbill at the Strong Stadium Complex.

    Beloit took a 1-0 lead in the first inning of game one before pouring on six runs in the third and three more in the fourth to wrap the game up in five innings via the mercy rule.

    Angela Donath had an RBI single in the first while Siddalee Meyers blasted a three-run double in the third and Allison Olson smacked a two-run double in the fourth before Jocelyn Jordan’s RBI single capped off the scoring.

    Meyeres paced the Bucs’ eight-hit effort with two while six different players helped combine for the other six hits. Monmouth was limited to just four singles.

    Kaylee Witte earned the victory as she threw four innings and allowed just four hits with three strikeouts. Samantha Friedrichsohn threw a perfect fifth with a strikeout.

    In the nightcap, the Scots outhit Beloit 11-4 and scored four runs in the fifth inning as Monmouth kept the Bucs off the board. Meyers once again was Beloit’s leading hitter as she recorded two hits while Briana Arteaga and Witte each added one.

    Witte was charged with the loss after allowing nine hits and sevens runs, six earned, with three strikeouts in four innings. Friedrichsohn came on in relief and allowed just two hits with two strikeouts in a pair of scoreless innings.

    Beloit wraps up the season at 11-27 overall and 5-11 in the Midwest Conference.
