BELOIT—The Peoria Chiefs’ Michael Curialle had himself a Mother’s Day to remember.

The third baseman, who entered Sunday’s game with the Beloit Sky Carp without a home run, hammered three of them in his first three at-bats to lead the Chiefs to a 9-3 victory at ABC Supply Stadium.

The Chiefs scored three runs in the first inning off Beloit starter Alex Williams (1-2). He struck out the side in the inning, but an error on third baseman Yiddi Cappe kept it alive and Curialle unloaded a three-run bomb to left field.

Peoria added four more runs in the third inning and two in the fifth. Curialle finished with seven RBIs, adding a fourth hit.

At least the Sky Carp bullpen was again nearly flawless, throwing five scoreless frames while striking out five.

Beloit broke up the shutout in the eighth. Johnny Olmstead led off with a double to left and moved to third on a single by Jorge Caballero. Osiris Johnson grounded into a forceout at second, but Olmstead scored on the play. Two strikeouts ended the inning.

The Sky Carp tacked on two runs in the ninth. Yiddi Cappe led off with a walk and Cameron Barstad followed with a single. Josh Zamora also singled to drive in Cappe and make it 9-2. A strikeout later, Olmstead singled to center to score Barstad. Caballero walked to load the bases, but Johnson flew out to shallow right and Chase Luttrell struck out to end the game.

Olmstead and Caballero each finished with a pair of hits.

Williams allowed nine hits and nine runs (six earned) in four innings of work. He walked two and fanned six and saw his earned run average climb to 8.18. Kyle Crigger worked a scoreless inning with two strikeouts. Xavier Meacham worked two scoreless innings, allowing two hits with two strikeouts and JoshEkness worked two scoreless innings, allowing three hits with one strikeout.

    • FRIDAY: In front of 2,642 fans, the Sky Carp fell to the Chiefs 4-1. The game’s biggest moment came in the bottom of the eighth with two runners on when Mark Coley II hit a ball to the base of the wall in center field that the Chiefs’ Won-Bin Cho was able to catch.

Peoria scored three runs, two earned, against Karson Milbrandt in the fourth inning.

The Sky Carp scored their only run in the seventh on an RBI groundout by Torin Montgomery.

Relievers Josh White, Kyle Crigger and Ignacio Feliz allowed just one earned run over four innings, but Beloit couldn’t rally.

    • SATURDAY: The Sky Carp bullpen continued to perform well, but the damage was done in the first inning. Beloit couldn’t overcome Peoria’s six-run first Saturday afternoon and fell 6-3.

Sky Carp starter Ike Buxton allowed six runs, but none of them were earned due to a critical infield error.

The Sky Carp tried to rally, with Torin Montgomery cracking a two-run double and Johnny Olmstead later hitting a solo home run, but they dropped their third straight game at home.

After Buxton was lifted in the first inning,Beloit’s bullpen pitched 8 1-3 scoreless innings, allowing just two hits, two walks while striking out 16 Chiefs. Nigel Belgrave, Dale Stanavich, Evan Taylor and Tyler Eckberg each threw at least two scoreless innings.
