BELOIT—Didn’t get a chance to head out to ABC Supply Stadium and catch the Beloit Sky Carp split a six-game series with several exciting games against the Dayton Dragons this past week?

Found yourself hearing from friends about how the sellout crowd of 3,165 on Saturday got to experience the thrill of Dino Night, where animatronic creatures of Ed’s Dinosaurs roamed the park and felt left out?

Have no fear because while the Sky Carp had a scheduled off day on a stormy Monday, they are staying in the friendly confines of Beloit for a second-straight homestand starting Tuesday at 6:35 p.m.

Beloit’s six-game series at ABC Supply Stadium against the Lake County Captains, an affiliate of the Cleveland Guardians, kicks off every night at 6:35 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday while Sunday’s series finale starts at 1:05 p.m.

The Captains are in first place in the MWL East at 30-21, three games ahead of the second-place Great Lakes Loons. In the MWL West, the Sky Carp sit in third place at 23-27, a half game ahead of the fourth-place South Bend Cubs (23-28). The Wisconsin Timber Rattlers are in first (32-19) followed by the Cedar Rapids Kernels (30-20).

    • WHO’S HOT: First baseman Torin Montgomery told those attending Sky Carp Fest back in January that he was “manifesting warm weather” for the upcoming season.

And with the summer weather heating up, so does Montgomery.

The 6-foot-3 14th round pick out of Kirkland, Washington is hitting .270 over his past 15 games. In that span he has a double and a homer to go with six RBI. He also sports a .413 on-base percentage.

Also swinging the bat well as of late is shortstop Johnny Olmstead, who’s three-run triple helped Beloit take down Dayton 7-2 in Sunday’s series finale.

Olmstead is hitting .256 in the past two series, and he has scored 12 runs while knocking in five. His 10 walks help put his OBP at .434 to lead the team.

And of course, there has been plenty of hype surrounding the call up of the No. 1 and No. 3 prospect in the Marlins’ system. Top prospect Nobel Meyer, the 19-year-old 2023 first-round pick out of Portland, Oregon, threw five innings in his debut on Saturday and allowed no earned runs on two hits while not issuing a walk and striking out six.

Thomas White, also a 19-year-old who was picked 35th overall in 2023 out of Massachusetts, started on Friday. The No. 3 prospect allowed an unearned run on two hits and two walks in four innings with six strikeouts.

    • FOR THE FANS: The homestand is filled with a slew of the usual promotions fans have grown to love while throwing in a few new ones this weekend.

First up is One-Price Waggin’ Wednesday, where fans can bring their dog to the park and all fans may enter the park for $18, which includes a game ticket, soda, hot dog and chips.

After that is Thirsty Thursday, where fans can purchase 12-ounce drafts of Busch Light for just $2 or 16-ounce cans for $4.

On Friday, the first 1,000 fans will receive a Sky Carp beach towel presented by Campbell’s snacks and it is also dodgeball night at the ballpark.

Saturday’s contest will feature postgame fireworks and it is also E.R.A. Night presented by Walnut Creek Apparel & Gifts. Taylor Swift themed activities will be all around the ballpark, and her music will be played through the loudspeakers throughout the night. There will also be a giveaway for tickets to her show in Indianapolis, but you must be present to win.

The series finishes on a special Sunday. It is, as always, Family Fun Day with kids 12 and under allowed the run the bases afterwards and families will be able to take to the outfield for some catch. But Beloit will also be celebrating Copa de la Diversion. The team will be wearing special uniforms to celebrate Latin culture along with presenting themed activities during the game.
