Osiris Johnson ripped a line drive up the middle with the bases loaded in the top of the ninth inning to break a scoreless tie and provide the only runs in Beloit's 2-0 win over Quad Cities in Midwest League action in Davenport, Iowa, on Friday night.
The Sky Carp started the ninth with a Torin Montgomery single, then Sam Praytor reached on an error to put runners at first and second.
Cameron Barstad lined into a double play, taking Beloit down to its final out. But Jorge Caballero and Tony Bullard both walked to fill up the bases ahead of Johnson's go-ahead hit.
Xavier Meacham came on to pitch the ninth for the Sky Carp, working around a one-out walk to wrap up the shutout victory and get his third save of the season.
Three others from Beloit pitched in the win with Thomas White throwing the first five, allowing just three hits and striking out six.
Yeuris Jimenez threw a scoreless 1 2/3 innings, and Evan Taylor, who got the win in relief, threw 1 1/3.
The win was Beloit's second in a row.
The fifth game in the six-game set between the Sky Carp and River Bandits will be at 6 p.m. Saturday with the finale scheduled for 1 p.m. Sunday.
