Beloit Sky Carp pounce on Quad Cities pitcher making Midwest League debut, end five-game skid

DAVENPORT, Iowa — The Beloit Sky Carp came out swinging after a lengthy weather delay Thursday night and teed off against a River Bandits starter making his first start in High A baseball.

Josh Zamora and Sam Praytor hit first-inning homers for Beloit off Quad Cities pitcher Hunter Patteson to give the Sky Carp a 4-0 lead — and Patteson a 108.00 ERA after he recorded just one out before getting pulled.

Beloit had another four-run inning in the third en route to an 8-5 win to end a five-game losing streak.

Zamora's homer came with Johnny Olmstead on base. Both of them drove in two runs on the night, and Cameron Barstad added another Beloit homer in the third.

Ignacio Feliz came on with one out in the fifth and pitched 1 2/3 scoreless innings to get the win. The River Bandits, who trailed 8-1 at one point, got back into the game late before Nigel Belgrave recorded a five-out save for Beloit.
