BELOIT — The Midwest League looked at the outstanding results that Beloit Sky Carp second baseman was producing from the plate and decided he deserved to be named as the MWL’s Player of the Week for June 24-30.

Then the league looked back at how Zamora had not only ended the month on a high note, but had been rocking it with both his bat and his glove for the entirety of June.

Well, Zamora is going to have to start work on his trophy case because the MWL named him as its Player of the Month for June.

Zamora sported a .322 batting average in June to go with his .578 slugging percentage and his .980 on-base plus slugging percentage. He went 29-for-90 at the plate while smacking five doubles and blasting six home runs. He brought 16 runs home and drew 10 walks while striking out 18 times.

In 52 starts at second this season, Zamora has committed just two errors while recording 85 putouts to give him a .990 fielding percentage. He has no errors in 10 starts at third and one error in five starts as a shortstop.

And while June has been the crown jewel month so far this season, Zamora, who was signed by the Miami Marlins following the conclusion of the 2022 MLB Draft out of the University of Nevada, Reno, has been the Sky Carp’s best hitter all season long.

Zamora’s .275 batting average leads all qualified hitters on Beloit’s roster, as does his on-base percentage of .359, slugging percentage of .518 and OPS of .877.

The Fullerton, California native’s 16 home runs paces the Sky Carp, and he is also first on the squad in RBI (50) and hits (68).
