BELOIT, Wis. (WTVO) — A newly hired intern for the Beloit Police Department suffered a possible concussion after a squad car, driven by a patrol officer, was rear-ended by a wanted criminal who ran from the scene before being arrested.

According to police, the officer was stopped on Prairie Avenue and conducting a traffic stop when another car crashed into his parked squad car.

The intern was in the car at the time of the crash. He suffered minor injuries, along with the possible concussion, police said.

The driver of the offending car got out and ran, but the officer was able to chase him down and arrest him. The unnamed suspect was wanted on warrants in Dane County, police said, and now faces charges in Beloit for Hit and Run Causing Injury.

The suspect was taken to the Rock County Jail.
